sNews 1.5.31 - Better Security and Math Captcha

We've put a lot of effort to make sNews more secure and in this version you'll find several different protection methods to keep your content safe. Also, to reduce contact form and comment spam, we've integrated a math captcha. Basically, the form now asks you to add one number to another and best of all it's totally customizable. Match captcha is located in a separate function so everyone can customize it with a little PHP knowledge. We bet spammers don't know how to calculate integrals.

The new version is available on the main sNews page.
Changelog and update instructions are available on the forum.

Math Captcha? That's really nice as I was just thinking how I should implement it on my website but didn't have time to do it... you guys rock!

P.S. Ha! Here you go - I missed the Captcha on your comment form and had to re-write the comment... :D :D :D :D
(No, I didn't calculate it wrong, but missed it completely - really just too excited because of this release...)

I've been looking around for a script like yours forever! Thanks alot for awfull nice work. I'm glad there's guys like you out there. Thanks alot once again.

I wonder about if I shold give you a donation. As a poor student, I can't throw away money, but this is really good stuff!

The only thing i'd want you to include is a "extended news" field that allows me to put a "read more" link om my page.

Thanks. Thomas. :D

Well, how's this math captcha works?!

I did calculate wrong and my comment still sent fine!

Bravo, outstanding work you guys.

This is one reason I stick with sNews beyond anything any other CMS has provided. They stand by their work here at sNews and they constantly come through time and time again with patches and fixes in time of need. Hands down the fastest, simplest, and slickest CMS on the free market!

Thanks Luka and Mika for this big help on snews.

The admin interface looks really very poor. The first version looked much better. I hope a redesign is coming soon to this otherwise nice and easy CMS.

excellent security release, and that maths captcha is fantastic! Cheers!

Yup, you guys are on a roll. The captcha for login seems to be a good solution. If its good enough for Yahoo, its good enough for us. I actually use the image, as it seems to be harder to figure out than javascript values on a form. To each, their own. Great job, and keep up the good work.

Math captcha still sends comments even if you calculate wrong :( I had (4 + 3) when I send this but I put in 5!

If you do write a looong text, put [break] somewhere after a paragraph or two and you'll see wh'appens.

Thanks for that info Sam.
