A Tale of Two Web Browsers

A Tale of Two Web Browsers
New versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox arrive within a week of one another. So which one is best?

"...The better browser is Firefox 2 for two reasons: innovation and ease of use.

Both browsers are loaded with modern productivity features, but while Microsoft is just introducing these features to its browser, Firefox has already had them long enough to refine them, enhance them and make them even easier to use. ...."

Firefox is the best...

I would have to say Firefox....

Firefox is by far the best! Davids quote on this page puts it perfectly.

The only reason that Internet Explorer is so popular is because its already installed with every computer running windows! Most computer novices are oblivious to the advantages of firefox over IE.

If people realised how bad IE actually is, firefox would become the most used browser overnight.

The standard features alone, nevermind the massive plugins & extensions database that firefox has, makes IE look like it was programmed in an 18 year old's bedroom by comparison.

I used IE for years until i discovered Firefox. I installed firefox and after just a few hours of using it, i was hooked, i've never looked back at IE since, except to check that my web pages work in it so that everyone else using IE can see my work OK.

I wouldnt say that i boycot IE, but since i started using firefox a year or two ago, i havent had a good word to say about IE. It renders pages wrong (going by w3c standards), it is insecure, it doesnt load pages as fast as firefox, and has never shown any extra features that firefox doesnt already do better.
Only now (IE7) has microsoft integrated tabbed browsing, which has been one of the most basic features of almost every other browser for years, that one feature alone shows how much microsoft is behind the competition!

In fact, the only thing that i can think of that IE has which firefox doesnt have, is Active X, which firefox left out because it is insecure, but you can enable it in firefox if you really want to so that point doesnt even count!

Why is this a discussion? Why would you go for either when there are browsers like Opera out there?
I wouldn't touch IE though with a barge pole, but nor would I want to use FireFox by choice...though FireFox is popular this is only because Opera used to cost money, and so it wasn't widely used. Now though Opera is free...
