Can you take pictures with the flip camera?

I want a digital camera for christmas. I saw Flip and i thought HOW COOL! but does it take pictures?

I took photography in college but used a 35mm and did my own developing but that was 7 years ago - I am capable of taking really awesome pictures - but I'm new to this whole digital thing and everytime I take a photo its looks great on my camera's screen...

It doesn't matter what camera. It could be a camcorder, digital, etc. My budget is $150 and down. I really want a camera that can take HD pictures mainly or any high quality pictures. It would be nice if it could also take HD videos too, but pictures...

I just got a waterproof camera and idk what to do with it, I just know that i can take an underwater camera...would me good for like a photo shoot? an outside pictures?? I'm not good with camera names but on my camera it says its OLYMPUS stylus tough...
