How do I delete bookmarks?

No problem with the bookmarks across the top of the page, but no matter what I do, when I try to delete a Bookmarked site from the drop downs, I'm redirected to the site in question. Frustrating! Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

I recently tried to clean up my bookmarks and found that some bookmarks will not allow me to edit nor delete them. How do I delete a bookmark when it says it can not be deleted?
