How do I set up an email signature in my emails?

Is there a way of getting rid of all the nonsense that comes up after every email i write? I would like to set up my own automatic signature but not sure how. I used to do it at work on outlook but can't find out how to do it on my personal emails.

I have scanned my signature into my computer (documents),selected mail options from options,navigated to signature on all outgoing messages,but i am unable to copy my signature into the signature box.
