How can I treat my nerve damage?

(wrestling accident) 23, female. Blunt force trauma to my lower back off to the side, so my spine is ok, but the tissue that was injured is numb when touched however sensitive to heat. There is pain but I suspect that is the bruising. Dr stated I have nerve damage and need physical therapy. I'm a gym freak, I need need need to get back to working out seeing as I'm gaining weight after only one week. How can I help treat my nerve damage at home? and will I be ok to do my normal workout routine?
