How long is Red wine good for after its been opened?

My husband and I opened a bottle of Merlot about a week ago and stuck it in the fridge and forgot about it. Could we drink it tonight? How long does opened wine last?

I know some else asked about red wine but she only got a bollocking over putting in the fridge. Leftover wine?!! I hear you cry well it's just me who opened it for cooking and a liiiiiiiiiittle glass with dinner.

Opened then corked.. and kept at room temperature... I know you can use it as cooking wine.. but when does the flavor start to change so that it becomes undrinkable?? And what is the best way to keep a open bottle of red wine?

I opened a $7 Bottle of Barefoot sweet red had 2 glasses last night still plenty left so i put the cork back in and put it in the fridge. How many days will it be good for? It's only a $7 bottle i like the stuff.

I opened a bottle of red wine a quite a while ago and just found it. It's about 4 months old but it has been sealed. I know the flavor and taste won't be as good as a brand new bottle, but would I get sick if I drank it anyway? Thanks.

Good wine is expensive. My husband and I enjoy a glass once a month or so, but we are tired of throwing away expensive wine.

I enjoy a glass or two of wine with a meal and my wife also has one glass but then the bottle might sit opened in the fridge for several days. At what point is it no longer any good? Can it be used in cooking after it is too old to drink?
