Is it normal for the Blackberry Bold 9700 to have such a sensitive screen?

My blackberry bold 9700 screen is completely white! i can still receive texts and phone calls but the screen shows nothing but white, i have already check to make sure the lcd is plugged in correctly and already tried restoring it to an earlier software...

When j press my down my blackberry bold screen lightly it gets a little brighter and when I let go it goes a little dim even when I press some buttons the backlight works just gets brighttet

I'm considering getting this phone, but I absolutely hate crappy screens that aren't crisp enough. I like the resolution on the iPhone 4, is this blackberry close to that? I'm not a good tech person, so I don't know what those numbers mean when you look...
