Is there a way to find out if our "sent" emails have been opened by the recipient?

Is there a way i can find out if some one opened an email i sent befor they actually replied. I send emails to some friends but they take for ever to reply. so if there is any wat to find out pleas let me know

I sent someone am e mail using my yahoo e mail account. The other person's e mail address was also an yahoo e mail account. Is there a way for me to find out if he opened or read my e mail ? Does this new yahoo e mail look has that choice ? Thanks

Just an odd thought while I was doing a bit of inbox tidying. Needless to say I haven't opened them but I am curious at to how they found me.
