What are the best DSLR cameras still under $600?

I'm trying to buy a DLSR camera to use for professional video productions, for under $700 or $600 bucks. Obviously, these will be entry-level cams, and I'm okay with that - I'm hoping to spend around $400 to $500 to buy one used on Ebay or something...

I don't know much about cameras. I see that they are very expensive $600-$6000 compared to the regular cameras at around $80-$300 Can you explain why DSLR are so much more expensive? thank you
