What's the best monitor for Xbox360 and PC?

Hi, the monitor works perfect on Xbox360, plays volume, but on my pc.. it just wont play any sound? i googled it, found out i had to go to Play back Devices and set my HD monitor to Default or somethin, then my volume worked through my monitor!! but...

I have a dell monitor which supports both DVI-D and VGA I figured i would keep my PC connected to the VGA input on the monitor and get a DVI-D to VGA connector where i would plug in this DVI-D adapter to the back of the monitor and then plug in the xbox...

So here is the situation, I am getting an xbox360 250g slim tom. and I do not own a t.v. As a matter of fact the only form of video display that I own is a monitor that I have connected to my gaming custom built pc. So here is where the problem comes...

I went and got a VGA cable for my xbox360 how ever my monitor does not have a VGA input but my computer does, How can I change it so I can get the xbox360 to come up on my screen and not the computer.
