Why can't people see the messages I send them?

it show a preview on the bottom right of the screen but when somebody types to me its shows up blank I've tried everything from checking my scripting its all enabled that's suppose to be enabled i deleted java reinstalled java deleted yahoo reinstalled...

when people send me im's or offline messages...i cant see what they typed...then when i want to send an im...or whatever i will hit enter or send and what i typed just vanishes.....
