Why doesn't my webcam work?

i have a dell latitude laptop with a single usb port and since i have a boradband connection which connects through the usb port i got a usb multi hub.... so from the single usb port i connected this usb hub and i connected the broadband connection and...

my webcam doesn't work on msn i click actions and i cant click show my webcam, and my webcam is plugged in. help??

when my friend logged in in my computer, there was a webcam. when i did in my account. i cant access it. why is that so?
