Why won't my windows media player sync with my psp?

i had originally bought the psp media manager (thinking it would be easier) and was using that for a while but later found that i could just as easily sync my psp with my windows media player. i uninstalled my psp media manager but now windows doesn't prompt me to sync at all. all i get is whether i just want to play or view my files. anybody have any suggestions how to fix this?
