Why won't my apps open?

I just got an ipod touch a couple of days ago but none of the apps i have downloaded will open, i've tried restarting it but it wont work, should i take it back?

my ipod apps will not open!! ive tried restoreing it and taking it to apple but they just said to restore it!!! please help!! (restoreing it obviously dident work).

I just updated my ipod to the new 4.0 version. Every timee i try to open an app it just closes immediately.
