How can I get better quality for my camcorder?

I have panasonic pv-gs120 3ccd camcorder. can anyone help with some advice (settings) on how to get the best quality out of this camcorder? also is there any way to make the footage look like hd?

How good would picture quality be from a 12 mega pixel camcorder? I recently purchased one off of an ebay store and was just wondering if that's good. I know it has to be good. I already have a cam with 5.3 megapixels and that gets pretty good quality...

When I've tried it the resulting DVD I've burned is all pixelated and poor quality compared to playing back from AV out of my camcorder into the TV. Any help would be appreciated.
