What is the easiest way to convert vhs to dvd?

Cheapest, best quality, what's the ins and outs of it? My friend wants to convert his old and rare movie collection into DVD's. There's about 100 or so to convert. What's the highest quality optional available?

I have alot of old import videos, both VHS and Beta and would like to create DVDs from them. I know there is a way to hook up a computer to the VCR, but I don't know how. My tapes are starting to get worn and I would love to save the content on them...

I found a home video today that was made like 7 years ago, except I no longer have a VHS player. Is there any way that I could convert this to DVD, or at least do something so that I could get the video on my iPod?
