I'm running an Alpine CDE-122 to a Kenwood 500w RMS @ 2ohm amp with two Kicker L5 2ohm DVC subs in a sealed box. 8 gauge power and ground cables and 14 gauge speaker wire. This setup was fine when I was using my Pioneer head unit but the Alpine seems to get so much louder. I followed Crutchfield's wiring diagrams for the subs and double checked it to make sure I wasn't forcing a 1 ohm load on the amp. Also the alternator is original and the battery is sorta old. Usually only happens when the volume on the head unit is higher. The subs will play for a couple of a minutes and then they shut off. My amp is still on they just arnt playing. I have to turn my head unit off and back on again to get the subs to work...
