What is a digital tv tuner?

Hi! My brother's friend gave him a used hp dual tv tuner digital video recorder. No connectors, remote, nothing but the DVR itself. My brother is not tech savvy and his friend is, so he was too embarrased to ask what it's supposed to do. So I am asking...

I have a tv with a cable card but may get the dvr cable box and want to know what would a dvd player/recorder with digital tuner allow me to do that one without a tuner would?

this has only happend recently it has worked fine for ages. its a compro t300 tuner. im not sure if its a hardware problem or what but only relently have i lost the digital signal. could this be my wall socket connection?

I know all the new TV's being sold in stores will get digital signals.....but does anyone know the difference between these 2 types of tuners? I'm thinking of getting a cheaper one ...show more
