What type of dirtbike should I buy as a beginner?

I'm looking to buy my first dirt bike and not sure what type I should be looking for. I've driven one a long time ago, but not since. I have driven motocycles for years including 1000cc sport bikes. I think the issue for me will be my height. I'm only 5'6 and 155lbs. Not sure if I should be looking for a 125 or a 250. I'm only looking to hit trails and maybe when I have some experience on the bike, take it to a dirt track to try it out. Really just looking to get some riding in on the weekends....
